Author: Michelle Altevogt

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a strong commitment to compassionate, mindful, and culturally sensitive care. My training and experience help clients to regulate emotions and behaviors, gain awareness and insight into their lives, and improve relationships. I have been working in the mental health field since 2003 with people from diverse backgrounds and have experience treating stress, anxiety, depression, existential and identity angst, trauma, emotional eating, and troubled relationships. I am certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) and incorporate various eclectic modalities into my work, including Narrative Therapy, Restorative Justice practices, mindfulness/somatic therapy, and yoga. Additionally, I provide clinical supervision and conduct trainings on mental health and well-being to our community. I spent time in the East Coast and studied literature at the University of Florida. I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at the University of Central Florida and obtained my Master’s in Social Work degree from the University of Kentucky. I am a first generation immigrant from the Philippines who has undergone social, racial, and educational struggles during the course of my acculturation. Because of my experiences, I believe that providing support, understanding, and collaboration, will empower people to learn skills to enhance their own potential. In my free time, I enjoy animals, reading, yoga, and outdoor pursuits including rock climbing, running, hiking, kayaking, and scuba diving.
